Press release
28 October 2026
Commenting on business rates, Chris Baldwin, partner and Real Estate Advisory lead at Deloitte, said:
"Today’s changes provide welcome relief for many businesses facing continued pressure from property costs. Raising the threshold for small business rate relief should take more smaller retail, hospitality, and leisure businesses out of business rates altogether, while targeted support for pubs and venues will help some of the businesses most exposed to rising bills.
“For businesses more broadly, greater certainty over rates will be important. Business rates remain a significant fixed cost, so limiting sharp increases can give businesses more confidence to invest in their premises and plan for growth.”
