Ed Roddis, Head of Public Sector Research at Deloitte, comments on the Budget:
“Today’s Budget has raised the stakes for next year’s Spending Review.
“The Budget document makes clear that the government will be taking a systematic approach to tracking the outcomes that public spending aims to achieve – and that could make a huge difference to cross-departmental working and maximising the bang of the taxpayer’s buck.
“Our latest research found high levels of concern about public service provision and more appetite for higher public spending. By loosening purse strings today the Chancellor has recognised this shifting mood among the British public.”
