Following a consultation, VAT zero rating will be extended to the sale of land to registered providers of social housing (relevant Housing Associations).
Housing Associations, property developers and construction companies engaged in social housing projects.
From 1 April 2027.
While the measure is positive, its impact is limited by the fact that the zero rating appears to only apply to sales to registered providers, which does not reflect the complexities of arrangements within the sector, which often include third parties.
