Measure

Air passenger duty

The measure

Air passenger duty (APD) rates have been announced for 2025/26. Rates for economy passengers will increase in line with forecast Retail Price Index (RPI). Rates for those flying premium economy, business and first class and for private jet passengers will also increase by forecast RPI and will be further adjusted for recent high inflation to help maintain their real terms value.

Who will be affected?

The travel and aviation industry, and its customers.

Our view

These increases in line with RPI are as expected.
